I approach the college admission process from the perspective of a former Assistant Director of Admissions for a liberal arts college. In that position, my duties included visiting high schools, attending college fairs, recruiting prospective students, interviewing applicants, and making admission decisions. I became a college admissions consultant in 1986 to provide a service that relieves the parents of the time-consuming research and shepherding of the student through the somewhat complicated process. Instead, I encourage the students, help them research college programs, and keep them on task as we navigate the system. Our work together concludes with the student having a variety of affordable, appropriate, and interesting college options, while the parents have peace of mind that all is completed within strict application deadline requirements.
