The Basis of A Positive College Experience
The college application process should be a time of excitement, exploration, and discovery.  With years of experience, I have developed a service that is personalized to each student’s abilities, needs, desires, and dreams.  Together, we will focus on a strategy and a timeline that address the research, curriculum examination, application process, testing, campus visits, financial considerations, and decision-making steps involved in the college admission process.  Understanding the requirements and timing involved in each step helps alleviate the stress and anxiety of finding colleges that are well-suited to the student.  I believe that finding that great “fit” is the basis of a positive college experience.
My Approach

I approach the college admission process from the perspective of a former Assistant Director of Admissions for a liberal arts college. In that position, my duties included visiting high schools, attending college fairs, recruiting prospective students, interviewing applicants, and making admission decisions.  I became a college admissions consultant in 1986 to provide a service that relieves the parents of the time-consuming research and shepherding of the student through the somewhat complicated process.  Instead, I encourage the students, help them research college programs, and keep them on task as we navigate the system.  Our work together concludes with the student having a variety of affordable, appropriate, and interesting college options, while the parents have peace of mind that all is completed within strict application deadline requirements.

Ethics are paramount in this process.  The student must feel that they have attained their college acceptances based on their abilities and hard work, not on unethical behavior meant to deceive the system.  As a consultant, I will advise and critique the student’s original work and offer suggestions. but, in the end, the student must be proud of his/her application, be pleased with what he/she has produced and “own” the application.
